What Our Technology Means for You

We’re revolutionizing outdoor living with products that capture the look of real wood without any of the drawbacks.

Realistic aesthetics

Our cutting-edge tech means you won’t have to sacrifice beauty when you choose TimberTech Advanced Polymer or composite materials. Our proprietary colour-cascading technology delivers the most realistic wood look with natural colour blending. The subtle nuances of our multi-tonal options and wood grain patterns are just like you see in nature.

Easy maintenance

With TimberTech, you get the full aesthetic experience of wood without the strenuous, costly, and constant upkeep required of lumber. Our one-of-a-kind capped polymer material and protective cap technology offer unbeatable protection from the elements to safeguard your deck boards from mould, mildew, and moisture damage. Enjoy lasting, beautiful decking, all backed by industry-leading warranties.

Superior durability

With TimberTech decking, you won’t have to worry about the kids scratching up your deck, or the sun and weather fading the colour. Our boards are engineered to resist stains, scratches, and fading. Plus, our TimberTech Advanced Polymer boards stay up to 30 degrees cooler* than competitive composite products, so they’re friendlier to bare feet.

An easy install

From colour-matched fasteners to hidden stainless steel clips, TimberTech offers a wide variety of fastening systems that secure your deck safely and stylishly for years to come. And our TimberTech Advanced Polymer boards are 30 percent lighter than the competition’s composite decking, which lightens the load.

A sustainable choice

TimberTech material scientists are constantly innovating to increase the sustainability of our products, and our rigorous Research & Design process ensures we thoughtfully grow our use of recycled materials without compromising performance. Products undergo more than 260 distinct tests, including accelerated weathering, to guarantee superior performance and longevity.

TimberTech Advanced Polymer decking contains about 60% recycled content – the highest percentage of recycled Polymer content on the market today – and our Composite decking contains approximately 85% recycled content. Because our largest raw material is recycled scrap and waste like wood dust, Polymer pipes, plastic shopping bags, and other landfill-bound plastic waste, TimberTech decking has a lower lifecycle impact on the environment than traditional wood decking.

FAQ

How does capping improve the durability of decking boards?

For composite boards, capping provides a protective polymer shell around the core, guarding it from moisture, staining, and UV exposure to help preserve its look and durability. TimberTech Composite boards are protected by a four- or three-sided cap (even in the grooves). Many other brands, however, do not use four-sided capping, leaving the core of the board exposed and more vulnerable to damage. In contrast, TimberTech Advanced PVC Decking has a fully synthetic core that does not depend on a cap for protection. The core material itself resists moisture, rot, and weathering naturally. The cap gives Advanced PVC boards up to 40% better slip resistance than leading competitors. It also provides varying levels of fire resistance across the different collections, and includes Cool Touch® Technology that helps many lighter colors stay up to 30° cooler than traditional composites.

How are manufacturers improving slip resistance in decking boards?

We engineer our decking with everyday use in mind, which includes enhancing slip resistance. The protective cap on TimberTech Advanced PVC boards features a finely textured surface that can provide up to 40% better grip than leading competitors, even in wet conditions, making it an ideal choice for moist climates, for docks, or near pools and hot tubs.

What certifications should I look for in sustainable decking products?

When choosing sustainable decking, look for products backed by credible, third-party verified certifications and disclosures. Key indicators include recycled content, which demonstrates the use of reclaimed or post-consumer materials and helps reduce landfill waste; Life Cycle Assessment (LCA) results, which evaluate environmental impacts such as carbon footprint and resource use across the product’s full life cycle; and Environmental Product Declarations (EPDs), which provide transparent, independently verified data to help compare environmental performance across products. Together, these tools offer a more complete and trustworthy picture of a decking product’s true sustainability.

How does sustainable decking contribute to reducing environmental impact?

Sustainable decking makes a positive environmental impact by repurposing materials that may otherwise end up in landfills. Our decking is made from up to 65% to 85% recycled content, including reclaimed wood and recycled plastics, which significantly reduces waste, the need for new resources, and overall carbon emissions. In fact, TimberTech Advanced PVC Decking has a much lower life cycle carbon footprint—just 1,170 kg of carbon emissions—compared to many hardwood alternatives, making it a responsible and long-lasting choice for your outdoor space.

How do manufacturers test decking materials for fire resistance?

Decking materials undergo standardized fire-resistance testing in controlled lab environments. Tests like ASTM E84 (Surface Flame Spread), ASTM E2632 (Under-Deck Flame Impingement), and ASTM E2768 (Extended Burning Characteristics) evaluate how decking, framing, and railing perform under exposure to flame, heat, and smoke. These rigorous standards help determine a product’s fire-resistance classifications, so you can select decking that meets local building codes and helps contribute to hardening your home. What are the benefits of using innovative decking solutions over traditional wood?

Innovative decking solutions like TimberTech Advanced PVC deliver the authentic beauty of traditional wood without the rigorous upkeep or eventual decay. By using advanced materials science, we engineer boards that resist fading, staining, and moisture damage far better than lumber, meaning you won't need to sand, stain or seal your deck for protection year after year. This approach offers you a longer-lasting, more sustainable outdoor space that continues to look good with minimal effort.

What are the most popular trends in decking design and technology for 2026?

Homeowners are increasingly prioritizing comfort, resilient materials, and decks that keep their surface cooler when exposed to sunlight. Select colors of TimberTech Advanced PVC Decking feature Cool Touch® Technology, which can keep boards up to 30 degrees cooler than traditional composite decking.** There’s also growing demand for realistic wood looks and low-maintenance durability, especially as more people seek products that withstand harsh weather and natural disasters. For wildfire-prone areas, fire-resistant decking, like TimberTech Advanced PVC, offers homeowners a way to help harden their outdoor spaces.
