A wooded, irregular lot in Austin’s Deep Eddy neighborhood hosts this custom 3,800 sq ft contemporary home. The architect drew inspiration from Austin’s creative arts scene and the site’s unique challenges. With many trees boasting protected or heritage status under Austin’s urban forestry policies, the design prioritized preserving trees from canopies and root systems. The 950 sq ft deck features a curved edge and railing to mirror both the property boundary and tree lines. It was built using TimberTech Vintage Collection® Advanced PVC Decking in English Walnut® was chosen for its natural wood appearance, seamlessly blending with the site. Located in a Wildland Urban Interface (WUI) zone, the project benefits from decking that is ignition resistant, WUI compliant, and has a Class A Flame Spread Rating. TimberTech offered technical support and connected a specialist to bend the Classic Composite Series® Railing, ensuring a perfect fit to the deck’s arc.
